Meet Martin Rabson from Malawi, Africa
Martin is participating in a project called SLB50 working under David Norvell, Asst VP Admin Affairs, Facilities & Safety. It is a small solar-powered product that can bring power to individual homes. It safely combines solar photovoltaic, digital control circuitry, and lithium-ion battery storage. This technology is very useful in developing nations where large centralized power plants do not exist.
Martin is from Zomba, Malawi and grew up in a family of seven children. Martin was only three years old when his father passed away, which made it difficult for his mother to take good care of him and his siblings. In the year 2000, he became sponsored by Children of the Nation and was provided with education, housing, food, etc. He recently graduated from the University of Malawi with a Mechanical and Electrical Engineering degree and would like to pursue a master’s degree as well. His goal is to provide affordable electricity to cities like his hometown and eventually own an engineering business.
