ABOUT
The Puerto Rico Research Hub is the center of activities dedicated to the study of Puerto Ricans at the University of Central Florida. The purpose of the Research Hub is to investigate, disseminate knowledge and promote creative solutions to pressing issues affecting the Puerto Rican population, its diaspora, and surrounding communities. The Hub continues to position itself as the gateway for research for Latin America and the Caribbean.
MISSION
The mission of the UCF Puerto Rico Research Hub is to investigate the Puerto Rican population and demographic trends to better inform public policy decisions including housing demands, job creation, health issues, social integration, and education. The main areas of emphasis include research, student engagement, outreach, and partnerships.
PILLARS
Academic Research
Academic research is conducted to systematically study and understand important issues related to Puerto Rico, and Puerto Ricans, especially those living in the 50 states and the District of Columbia.
Student Engagement
Students are provided with opportunities to engage in individual or collective research projects, participate in trips to Puerto Rico, and exchange knowledge within the University of Central Florida community and beyond.
Partnerships
Collaborations are formed with faculties and entities who are part of the University community as well as faculties working in other institutions and representatives of research centers, non-profit organizations, and businesses.
Outreach
The Hub aims to disseminate knowledge about Puerto Rico and the Puerto Rican diaspora through community events, news interviews, and discussions with policymakers.
