Amy Donley is an Assistant Professor in the Sociology department, the Director of the Institute for Social and Behavioral Sciences (ISBS), and the Undergraduate Program Director for the Sociology department. She currently teaches research methods and data analysis at the undergraduate level and Program Design and Evaluation at the graduate level. Her research interests include social inequalities, specifically poverty, food insecurity, and homelessness, the intersection of homelessness and crime, and media presentation of social problems. She is very active in the community and currently serves as the Chair for Table Sixty, an organization working to end senior hunger in Orange County, and serves on the Board of Directors for the Homeless Services Network. Dr. Donley is very involved with the Southern Sociological Society and annually organizes an initiative that enables undergraduate sociology majors from UCF to attend the meeting and present their original research. She has published in several journals, including Journal of Social Distress and the Homeless, Journal of Applied Social Sciences, and Journal of Forensic Psychology Practice. Her first book, Poor and Homeless in the Sunshine State: Down and Out in Theme Park Nation, co-authored with Dr. James Wright, was released in 2011. One of her current research projects focuses on the experiences of homelessness among college students.
