Chelsea Velez is the Fall 2021 Social Media Fellow for the Office of Global Perspectives and International Initiatives. She is a first-semester master’s student at the University of Central Florida pursuing a graduate degree in communication. Velez is a graduate teaching and research assistant working with the Winter Park Sunshine Project. Her research interests include studying communication among minorities and its utilization in forms outside of popular media, as well as intercultural and familial communication behaviors. Upon graduation, she plans on pursuing a doctorate in sociology and further pursuing research endeavors alongside writing a novel. A student of English, Spanish and French, Velez has traveled to Puerto Rico, New York, New Hampshire, Maine, and Massachusetts.
