M.C. Santana is an Associate Professor and Director of the Women’s and Gender Studies program at the College of Arts and Humanities since 2009. Santana is an interdisciplinary scholar fusing media, gender studies and leadership in her teaching and research. She has taught for the Women’s and Gender Studies Program , CREATE, Burnett Honors College, Nicholson School of Communication and the School of Visual Arts and Design. Santana is an activist with the Farmworker Association of Florida, Planned Parenthood, Equality Florida, Girl Scouts of Citrus Council and Peace and Justice Institute at Valencia College. In the past 10 years she received 4 national grants dealing with Leadership and Girls and 4 teaching awards at UCF. A former Head for the Minorities and Communication Division at AEJMC, Research Chair for the Gender Studies at BEA, National Student Chapters Chair with NPPA , National University Chapters Committee member for AAUW, University Representative for Orlando/Winter Park AAUW branch for the last 5 years and co-Chair of the International Task Force at NWSA. She serves as the faculty adviser for NOW at UCF since 2009, Sigma Labda Gamma National Sorority and Youth Against Child Trafficking.
