UNDERGRADUATE AND GRADUATE STUDENTS

STUDENTS
  • Students do not apply for the LAC via UCF Global. Instead, they need to contact their College or Department to ask if they sponsor international students and to learn more about their application process and timeline. Please note: Colleges and Departments are allowed to add additional criteria to the award.
  • Only Colleges with the appropriate type of funding (E&G) may sponsor an international student from designated LAC countries.
  • The LAC may be applied for Fall and Spring semesters only (it cannot be awarded for Summer semesters).
  • Student must be registered for UCF classes, be full-time (no exceptions), have current immigration status, and have a 3.0 or better GPA.
  • We recommend students reach out to their Department to inquire about sponsorship opportunities.
DEPARTMENTS
  • The Latin American Caribbean Scholarship (LAC) form must be sent to Mr. Sergio Ponce, Assistant Director at UCF Global (Sergio.PonceCordova@ucf.edu) by College or Department staff each semester for the change from out-of-state to in-state residency for tuition purposes to be applied.
  • The Office of the Registrar will apply the residency update to in-state residency for tuition purposes after the end of the drop/add period for eligible students.
  • College and Department staff with questions regarding the LAC Scholarship may contact Sergio.PonceCordova@ucf.edu  for assistance.
  • Important: students receiving Florida Linkage awards, Graduate Assistantships (GA), Graduate Research Assistantship (GRA), Hardship Waivers or other UCF scholarships which reduces tuition to the in-state rate may not be eligible for the LAC scholarship.
  • Colleges or Departments must make a two-semester commitment with a minimum $500 scholarship award for each semester ($1,000 total).
  • Colleges or Departments are under no obligation to sponsor students. If they do so, it is because their budget permits and they have the appropriate funding type.

Please contact Sergio Ponce Cordova for more information.
