COMMUNITY ENGLISH PROGRAM (CEP)
The Community English Program (CEP) is for Central Florida residents whose first language is not English. Courses are designed to help build conversational English skills necessary for working and living in the United States. Participants in the CEP develop skills in listening, reading, writing, speaking, vocabulary, grammar, and culture. Classes are offered in person on campus and at community based organizations, as well as online.
PROGRAM CRITERIA
• Students must be a verifiable resident of Central Florida.
• Space is limited based on level placement and class schedule.

Class Offerings
Classes are offered year round at various locations in the greater Orlando area. A week prior to the start of class you will receive an email with your class start date, time, and location.

New Student Registration
The first step in the process is to attend an Open House session where you will meet one-on-one with an instructor to understand your language ability. You must attend an Open House to get registered for a class. Pick one date from the list below to attend an Open House. Should you miss the Open House, please know you will NOT be placed into a class.
STEP 1: REGISTER FOR AN OPEN HOUSE

STEP 2: Attend Open House
Attend the Open House. Be on time whether you are attending a virtual or in person Open House. The typical time needed for your Open House session is anywhere between 15 minutes to 45 minutes.
You will receive an email in the weeks following the Open House that will provide your class date, time and location. Should you not attend the first week of classes, your spot will be given to another person.

Frequently Asked Questions
What are the rewards?
We take pride in supporting you in your journey to learn English. The rewards are seeing you become assimilated and finding new opportunities at work, in the community and in your personal life.
How many classes can I miss?
We understand that emergencies happen. However, we encourage our students not to miss more than four classes per session.
How long are the classes?
Except for the Summer session, our Spring and Fall sessions run for 12 weeks (about 3 months).
What are the teaching modalities?
We offer classes virtually and in person.
If I don’t live in the Orlando area, can I join the meeting via Zoom?
We would love to accommodate everyone, but our intent is to serve the people in the Greater Orlando area.
Can I drive and listen to the class?
NO
For your safety, please ensure that you are not driving when you attend classes. Optimal learning and class etiquette require cameras to be turned on while in class.
How many times can someone repeat a class?
Repeating the course is not automatic. Our goal is to move you along to attain language profiency in a realistic and timely manner. A curriculum committee (including your instructor, UCF Global Training Specialist and potentially the Director) will determine next best steps at the end of each session.
How often are classes held?
Classes are held twice a week for a total of four hours per week.
Can you create a class on this date for me?
Class schedules are created based on times and days that work for most participants. Please look at our calendar to ensure you will be able to commit to those dates. We make every effort to accommodate the class’s needs.
Can my 16-year-old take the class?
UCF Global takes pride in offering classes to people in our community. Adults age 18 and up are welcome to enroll.
Can I request a schedule change?
Our classes are usually at capacity. We cannot guarantee that you will be able to fulfill your request.
If I go on vacation, can you save my spot?
Before enrolling in one of our classes, please look at our calendar to ensure you will be able to commit to class session dates. No more than four absences per session is permitted.

Top Notch 3rd Edition prepares adults and young adults to interact confidently in English. A communicative English course, it makes English unforgettable through the right input of language, intensive practice, and systematic recycling.

Beginner 2
Top Notch 1 learning objectives are designed for false beginners. They offer a rigorous review and an expansion of key beginning concepts as well as a wealth of new and challenging material.

Top Notch 2 learning objectives are designed to further develop English skills in listening, speaking, pronunciation, reading, writing and grammar in order to communicate effectively in social and work situations.

Advanced 2
Advanced level develops oral communication skills by exploring and practicing conversation strategies. The aim of the course is to help you increase your cultural understanding, improve your pronunciation, consolidate your knowledge of grammatical structure, and expand your vocabulary for successful everyday communication.
