BIOGRAPHY

Sergio Ponce was born in Mexico City. He studied at the Universidad Iberoamericana and got his bachelor’s degree in International Relations in 2012.

In 2013 Sergio moved to the United States and started working at the Mexican Consulate in Orlando where he was in charge of the Community Affairs Department overseeing a wide range of topics that can be summarized in educational opportunities, health promotion and financial education for Mexicans living abroad. He also was responsible for developing and administering social media content that was designed to engage with the Mexican community and create an interactive relationship.

During his time working at the Mexican Consulate he organized yearly cultural and educational events such as: Financial Education Week, Binational Education Week, Binational Health Week, Mexican Independence Day Celebration, Day of the death and Celebrate Mexico during the International Education Week at UCF.

Sergio Ponce manages the Latin American and the Caribbean Scholarship and the Lewis Foundation Scholarship at UCF. Since joining the team at UCF Global, he has also recruited over 200 international students to UCF Global English Programs and engaged with different partners and allies in the LAC region for the benefit of UCF. He has also helped in coordinating UCF’s International Education Week and protocol visits from the university.
